Summer in Devon
Summer is the loud one, in the best sense. Sidmouth fills up, the festivals arrive one after another, the beaches are properly warm. If you like a place with something on, this is your stretch of the calendar.
June is the gentlest of the three. The evenings stretch out, the coast path is at its best, the schools have not broken up. July brings the festivals, August brings the Folk Festival plus the Regatta.
One thing to plan around: seasonal dog restrictions run on most beaches from 1 May to 30 September. Branscombe is the exception nearby, open to dogs along almost its whole length.

June
Father’s Day at Seaton Tramway, the Donkey Sanctuary on foot along our own field trail, the beaches before the crowds arrive.
July
The busiest month in the whole calendar. SidyFest, the Lyme Regis Sausage & Cider Festival, Lyme Morris Day of Dance, Bridport Folk Festival, then Camp Bestival.
August
The Sidmouth Folk Festival opens the month, the Regatta & Air Show closes it, with Bridport’s Melplash Agricultural Show sitting neatly in between.
