Driving directions
- Leave the M5 at junction 30.
- At Sandy Gate roundabout stay in the left-hand lane, taking the second exit towards the A3052 for Sidmouth.
- At the next roundabout go straight ahead onto the A3052.
- Stay on the A3052 for about thirteen miles.
- Carry on through the village of Sidford. About a mile further on you will pass the Donkey Sanctuary on your left.
- Oakdown is the next turning on the right. Look for our signs.
If you are coming from the Sidmouth direction, take the second Weston turning. Put Gatedown Lane into your satellite navigation together with the postcode, then look for the Oakdown signs at the turning. The postcode on its own covers a long stretch of lane, which is what catches people out.
Arriving by bus
The 899, run by Axe Valley Mini Travel, stops at the entrance gates. The route links Sidmouth with Seaton by way of the park, so there is no walk along the road with your luggage.
Sidmouth itself has regular buses from Exeter. The nearest railway station is Exeter St Davids, about eighteen miles away.
