A blooming marvellous day
Our David Bellamy Story
On 23rd June 2004, Professor David Bellamy OBE arrived at Oakdown to officially open Oak Mead Golf Course. Representatives from HARPA arrived by helicopter, landing right on the course. It was, in David’s own spirit, a blooming marvellous day.
The Franks family had been working with David’s Conservation Award scheme since 1996 — eight years before the opening. They have held the Gold Award every year since. Thirty consecutive years.
“Oakdown’s achievements serve as a first-class illustration of how a caring and responsible business can work hand-in-hand with nature.”— Rufus Bellamy, David Bellamy Conservation Award Scheme
The full story of David Bellamy’s visit, the opening of Oak Mead and thirty years of conservation at Oakdown is coming soon.
