Camping in Devon
Tents go on our grass pitches, three miles from Sidmouth and the sea.
Our grass pitches are level, closely mown and generous in size, most of them set in groves with hedging between. Camping is the least expensive way to stay at Oakdown and it puts you on exactly the same ground, with the same amenity blocks, as everyone else.
Before you book
What you need to know
- Grass pitches only. Tents go on any grass pitch, non serviced or serviced.
- Not on hard standing or super serviced. Those pitches use a large gravel that would tear a tent groundsheet, so we do not take tents on them.
- One tent per pitch. If there are more of you than one tent will hold, book a second pitch.
- Gazebos are welcome. They need to fit within your own pitch. There is a charge per night — just ask when you book.

Facilities
Two amenity blocks serve the park, one on the main site and one at Beech Grove, with showers, toilets, a laundry and a guest kitchen. There is more on our park facilities page.
For everyone’s safety we do not allow firepits on the park. If you would like to barbecue, ask at reception for fire bricks to lift it off the grass.
