Spring in Devon

Spring is the quiet favourite here. The coast path dries out, the hedgerows fill, the lanes lose their winter mud — all of it before the schools break up. You get the Jurassic Coast largely to yourself.

It is the best stretch of the year for walking. Beer to Branscombe, the cliffs above Sidmouth, the long haul from Beer to Lyme Regis if you fancy a proper day of it. The light is clean, the going is good underfoot.

It is also when the town wakes up. The Farmers Market returns to Kennaway House, the Manor Pavilion puts a show on, then by May the festivals start in earnest.

We normally open in the second week of March. The date shifts a little year to year, so ring reception during normal working hours if you are planning an early trip.
