Autumn in Devon
Autumn is genuinely good around here, which is not something every holiday park can say. The summer crowds go, the sea stays warm well into September, then the hedgerows turn bronze.
You will find parking spaces, shorter queues plus more attention at the attractions. The coast path between Beer and Branscombe in early morning light is the best photograph you will take all year.
It ends dramatically. The first week of November brings Sidbury’s bonfire then the flaming tar barrels at Ottery St Mary, which is one of the stranger sights in Britain.
What is on in autumn
September
A week of free guided walks at the Sidmouth & East Devon Walking Festival, the Illuminated Carnival through Sidmouth, then the Dorset County Show.
October
A week and a half of the Sidmouth Science Festival, the Budleigh Salterton Carnival, plus dark skies over the Dorset Downs for stargazing.
November
Sidbury’s bonfire and fireworks, the tar barrels at Ottery St Mary, then a much gentler street market over in Bridport.
We normally close in late November, though the date shifts year to year. Ring reception during normal working hours before planning a late November stay.
