Sunsets
Facing south as it does, this stretch of coast gives you the sun going down over the sea to the west — out towards Exmouth, with Dartmoor beyond it on a clear evening.
Summer evenings stretch out a long way here. In June the light lingers well past nine, which is one of the quiet pleasures of a June holiday.
Best spots for last light
Salcombe Hill
The same viewpoint that serves the sunrise works at the other end of the day, looking west towards Dartmoor. One of the finest outlooks on the Jurassic Coast.
Sidmouth seafront
Looking west along the bay with the red cliffs catching the last of it. Twenty minutes on the 899 from our gates.
Weston Mouth
A remote shingle cove down the coast path, with nobody much about in the evening. Ten minutes by car to Branscombe, then walk.
Branscombe beach
Open to the west, with the Sea Shanty on the beach behind you.
