A blooming marvellous day

Professor David Bellamy OBE at Oak Mead

On 23rd June 2004, Professor David Bellamy OBE arrived at Oakdown to officially open Oak Mead Golf Course. Representatives from HARPA arrived by helicopter, landing right on the course itself. It was a memorable day for the Franks family and for everyone at the park.

“Oakdown’s achievements serve as a first-class illustration of how a caring and responsible business can work hand-in-hand with nature.”— Rufus Bellamy, David Bellamy Conservation Award Scheme

Oakdown has held the David Bellamy Conservation Gold Award every year since 1996 — thirty consecutive years. The full story of David’s visit and the park’s conservation journey is coming soon.
