Winter in Devon

We should say this plainly: the park is closed in winter. We normally open in the second week of March then close in late November. The dates shift a little year to year, so for a specific date ring reception on 01297 680 387 during normal working hours.

East Devon in the meantime is worth knowing about, because the coast does not shut. The cliffs are at their most dramatic in a winter swell, the paths are empty, then the towns are given back to the people who live in them.

If you are planning ahead, winter is the sensible time to book. The best pitches for the following season go early, particularly over the school holidays plus the Folk Festival week.

Through the winter

Oak Mead golf course

Our nine hole par three course is over the road on Gatedown Lane. It stays open all year to visitors as well as guests, so it carries on through the winter when the park itself is shut.

Caravan storage

Winter storage runs from 1 November to 31 March in our two alarmed compounds, which is what most owners do between seasons.

The coast

Branscombe, Beer plus Sidmouth are all there all year. February brings the Donkey Sanctuary trails, telescope evenings at the Norman Lockyer Observatory, the Sidbury pantomime, then a wander round historic Bridport.

Book ahead for spring

We open again in the spring. The best pitches go early.
