Before you set off
Your pre-arrival guide
A few things worth knowing before you travel. None of it is complicated, though one or two points save a wasted journey — particularly the height barrier if you are in a motorhome.
Getting here
Finding us
Oakdown Holiday Park, Gatedown Lane, Weston, Sidmouth, Devon EX10 0PT. We are three miles from Sidmouth on the A3052. The Donkey Sanctuary is the last landmark before our turning.
Satnav
Enter Gatedown Lane together with the postcode EX10 0PT. The postcode on its own covers a long stretch of lane. Coming from the Sidmouth direction, take the second Weston turning. Our what3words is ///teardrop.songbird.blows.
From the M5
Leave at junction 30. At the Sandy Gate roundabout take the second exit towards the A3052 for Sidmouth, then straight on at the next roundabout. About thirteen miles, through Sidford. A mile further the Donkey Sanctuary is on your left. Oakdown is the next turning on the right.

Timing it
Arriving
If your vehicle is over 2m, or 6’6”, read this first. Height restricting barriers at both entrances stop tall vehicles entering or leaving between 10.30pm plus 8.30am. Except in an emergency those times do not change, so a late arrival in a motorhome means waiting until morning.
Reception is open daily from 8.30am to 9.00pm. Outside those hours a push bell outside the door brings the duty member of staff on site.
Arrival is from 3.30pm, and on the day you leave the pitch or unit is yours until 10.30am. Those times are the same for touring and camping pitches, the lodges plus the glamping units.
Want longer on departure day? A late checkout until 5.00pm is £15, subject to availability — ask reception on 01297 680 387.
Packing
What to bring
- Bedding for the barrel pods plus premier pods, unless you have added a bedding pack. Bedding is included in the shepherd’s huts
- A pound coin or two — some facilities take them
- Walking boots. The Undercliffs plus the coast path are muddy year round
- Your dog’s own bedding, if you are bringing one
- A torch. It gets properly dark here, which is rather the point
Settling in
Once you are here
A key deposit is taken at check in. Once you are checked in you can come plus go as you please.
If anyone in your party has a disability or needs particular help, tell us on arrival. Some lodges have closer parking than others, so it is worth mentioning when you book rather than on the day.
Dogs get a welcome treat at reception. Clean Paws, our dog spa, is free to use plus open all day.
