The field trail
A private trail runs from the park along our northern boundary, out towards the Donkey Sanctuary fields. It is a proper countryside walk rather than a path beside a road — which means children can run on ahead while dogs go on leads.
You can be on it within a minute of leaving your pitch. No car, no lane to negotiate.
What the walk is like
The trail follows the edge of the family’s own farmland. It is level going for the most part, so it suits a gentle stroll before breakfast as easily as a proper dog walk.
Trail cameras along this boundary have picked up deer, badgers, owls plus a good range of local birds over the years.
The Reed Bed and bird hide
Our Victorian Reed Bed sits along the way, with a bird hide beside it. It is a good spot to sit with a coffee early on. There is a sightings book inside that guests add to.

On to the Donkey Sanctuary
The trail takes you out towards the Donkey Sanctuary, which is free to enter then open all day. Hundreds of rescued donkeys live out their days there in the Devon countryside.
Being able to walk to it is one of the things guests mention most about staying here.
