August events
August is a great time to visit East Devon and some of the region’s most popular events take place during this month.

Honiton Show
The Honiton & District Agricultural Association – “Where Farming Comes First” The show is held in the heart of the East Devon Countryside on a 140 acre site which was purchased by the Honiton & District Agricultural Association in 2003. The show has a unique atmosphere blending traditional and new where its emphasis is agriculture and its associated activities first and foremost.

Sidmouth Folk Festival
A national treasure – a major cultural institution held every year in the first week of August since 1955 attracting tens of thousands of visitors.

Beautiful Days Festival
Beautiful Days is the Levellers’ family music festival organised by DMF Music since its inception in 2003. Proudly independent, Beautiful Days has no sponsorship or funding.

Budleigh Salterton Literary Festival
Situated in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty on East Devon’s World Heritage Site, the Jurassic Coast, Budleigh Salterton hosts the most outstanding literary festival in South West England.
As a registered charity, our mission is to celebrate books and their authors and promote the art of writing and the enjoyment of reading in our East Devon community and in our local schools.
Wholeheartedly supported by the local community, who embrace the variety of events and workshops, this is a literary festival which offers delights few other festivals can match.

Nature Valley Gone Wild Festival
The festival is packed with a range of fun activities for the whole family to enjoy, including kayaking and stand up paddle boarding on the Exe Estuary, Be Military Fit family group workouts, a purpose-built obstacle course, open water swimming and climbing. Expert instructors from the Bear Grylls Survival Academy will teach children and adults essential survival skills such as shelter building, fire lighting and campfire cooking.

Sidmouth Air Show
The event will welcome in the region of 25,000 visitors wowing crowds with impressive aerobic displays, all from the beautiful surrounding of the Sidmouth seafront.
