Golf holidays in Devon: Our favourite courses
To help you decide which golf courses are worth visiting, we’ve put together a list of our favourite golf courses in Devon – many of which are only a short drive away.
- East Devon Golf Club
Only a short drive down the coast, near Budleigh Salterton, lies East Devon Golf Club, which boasts one of the finest courses in the UK. This 6,231 yard course enjoys magnificent coastal views from its cliff-top location. It may not be the longest course but it is a true test for even the top golfers, with its close cropped turf and testing, undulating greens. For anyone considering golf holidays in Devon, keen to try out a top course, a round here really is a must. - Sidmouth Golf Club
This great parkland course is just down the road from our holiday park. Combining stunning coastal views of Sidmouth and the Jurassic Coast with lush parkland fairways and mature trees, Sidmouth Golf Club is a test. With sloping fairways and fast greens, the course can prove a challenge for golfers of any ability – well worth a round here.. - Woodbury Park Golf Club
Woodbury Park is a stunning golf resort, only a short drive from our holiday park. Here you can indulge your love of golf to the max, with two fantastic courses to play and a brilliant range of facilities to make use of. The Oaks course is one of the most picturesque in Devon, with striking parkland, rolling fairways and stunning lakes. There’s also the 9-hole Acorns course, which boasts beautiful views of the Devon countyside. - Exeter Golf Course
Head west and try your hand at Exeter Golf Course. At its heart is a grand Georgian club house and a challenging James Braid-designed course, at just over 6,000 yards. Exeter Golf Course has a strong reputation in the South West, and with good reason. Enjoy a round in beautiful parkland surroundings here – other great leisure facilities are also available on site. - Bovey Castle
The golf course at Bovey Castle is a challenging and beautiful 18-hole championship course, designed in 1926 by J F Abercromby, one of the finest British golf course designers of the last century. Designed to rival its sister courses at Gleneagles and Turnberry, this course has been described as an experience of golf never to be forgotten, presenting the pure challenge of golf to professional and amateur alike. The course meanders through the hotel estate, surrounded by idyllic landscape and challenges to meet any handicap. - Dartmouth Golf Course
The Championship Course at Dartmouth is a test, of that there is no doubt, but the average golfer can still enjoy a good round here. There are many beautifully crafted holes that will love you with a smile on your face (when you hit the fairway or green, that is). The terrain is undulating and there are some tough, long drives needed off many tees. No two holes are the same, and you’ll probably make use of every club in your bag! - Saunton
Some people reading this might say that we’ve saved one of the best until last… and they’d be right. For those who want a real challenge, then Saunton is a must for golf holidays in Devon. Try not one but two championship course, with the East Course gaining a reputation as one of the finest in the UK. This course has been used extensively for major amateur championships and, should there be a need for another links course for the Open Championship, then this has surely got to be a contender. - Royal North Devon
Another one of Devon’s must play course, the Royal North Devon’s only drawback is its distance from our holiday park! This grand course has the proud honour of being England’s oldest course – and original fairways are still used. Despite its age and the advancement of golfing technology, this course is still a huge challenge, even for the most accomplished golfers! It is open to the elements, in true links style, with no trees or hedges. It goes without saying that when the wind is blowing this course gets even tougher… - Oakmead Golf Course
Last but not least is Oakmead, a small, family golf course located opposite our holiday park. This 9-hole course is perfect to sharpen up your game before you head out to the more challenging courses Devon has to offer. What’s more it’s just £7 a round for adults and £4 for under 12s. Equipment and ball hire is free too!
