Our latest arrival to the glamping grove is our barrel pods, named Thistle, Heather and Bluebell. They all offer the same outdoor holiday experience as camping but with a few often-missed creature comforts.
These quaint ornate barrel pods provide a gentle introduction to glamping at Oakdown. The pods are ideal for sleeping two adults and two children. To the rear of the barrel, there is an elevated 6ft sleeping area (2 x 3ft mattress) which is accessed by steps. The bench seats convert into two high single beds, with the backrest cushions extending the size of the sleeping space – please note these are only foam cushioned – ideal for youngsters. There is a hideaway table perfect for the family to enjoy a great selection of food or rainy-day games.
There is ample storage beneath the bench seats and the elevated sleeping area, for you to store all of your glamping necessities and so much more.
These three pods come with all the comforts needed for a relaxing stay, including:
- kettle, toaster, microwave and fridge
- an area for hanging clothes and coats
- a storage trolley to keep the little things organised!
- lights, which double up as night lights for the evenings, and heating for the cooler days
- washing up bowl, washing up liquid, sponge and tea towel
Within the front porch, there are two wooden seats where you can sit and enjoy the locality or curl up with a book. On the grass area surrounding the pod is a picnic table for your exclusive use, and on the other side is space to park your car right next to the pod.
There is an integral heating system, with thermostat control, making them cosy even on the coldest day. With double sockets featuring two USB ports and an extension lead for your further use.

There is a shared toilet block exclusively for our glamping guests, with shower and laundry facilities in the main amenities block.
